Guadalajara Chivas U21

Zapopan sits inside the Guadalajara sprawl, and the Verde Valle complex there is where Chivas keeps the part of itself that never plays at the Akron. Training pitches, a few stands, and the senior club has been at this since 1906.

The competition itself is younger than most of the players in it. Liga MX U-23 was created in 2023 out of a merger with the Liga de Expansión; in May 2025 the U-23 bracket was scrapped and the Sub-21 category took its place.

The one that matters was the first. Chivas won the inaugural Liga MX U-23 title in Apertura 2023, beating Tigres 2-0 in the final, and they did it late: Armando González scored on 110 minutes, Saúl Zamora on 112. José Meléndez was the coach.

One title, decided in the 112th minute.
