Queretaro U21

The one that changed the standing of the senior side came in the autumn of 2016, when Querétaro took the Copa MX. A year later they added the Supercopa MX, the match that pits the two cup winners of a season against each other, and that pair of trophies sits apart from the rest of the cabinet — the earlier titles, in 2005 and 2008, were second-division championships, won to get out of the Primera División 'A' rather than to win anything at the top.

The U21 side plays in the Liga MX U21 competition and draws on the senior club's structures: the training base, the badge, the blue, black and white. Its own record — coaches, honours, the players it has sent upward — is not something the club publishes.

What it does share is Estadio Corregidora, a ground built for 35 575 in a city that gave the stadium its name from local history rather than from a sponsor. That size puts it among the larger venues a youth side is likely to see from the inside, though the U21 team's fixtures rarely fill it.

The senior club reached the CONCACAF Champions League once, in 2015-16, the season before the cup run.

All of it traces back to 8 July 1950, when the club was founded in Querétaro under the name that still follows it around: Gallos Blancos, the White Roosters.
