Nobody has fixed a founding year to the U21 team itself, which fits how these sides tend to come about: a squad assembled to serve the first team, not a club with its own beginning.

Home is the Estadio León, still called the Nou Camp by most people who go there.

The nickname the players inherit is Los Panzas Verdes — the green bellies.

What the record shows is participation rather than reward. The league's own archive lists León in the closing phases of the U21 tournament across the years from 2011 to 2019, match by match, without a title at the end of any of them. The club's Sub-23 team came closest to something concrete in 2024, finishing second in its category. In the 2026/27 season the U21 side sat fourth in the table around the time it met Monterrey.
