Talanta

Talanta exists because a Kenyan telecoms regulator wanted somewhere for its own graduates to play. The launch took place at the Safari Park Hotel on 19 July 2012.

The academy pipeline shaped the club's early sporting life too. In that first year Talanta entered the FKF President's Cup and reached the quarter-finals before Tusker eliminated them, with George Nzenze and Patrick Muchiri among the scorers who got them there.

Since then Talanta have moved between the FKF Premier League and the National Super League, Kenya's top two divisions, playing Nairobi opponents such as Nairobi City Stars and Nairobi Stima without any of those meetings acquiring a derby name of their own. Ruaraka Stadium, capacity 4,000, is listed as their home, though the team has at times switched to Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega or Dandora Stadium instead. They play in navy blue and white at home, white away.

The academy model that brought Talanta into being has not yet brought them a trophy.
