In 2007 Passang Tshering scored 17 goals in a single league match. That was the season Wangay Dorji got the winner against Pakistan Army in the AFC President's Cup. Then it stopped. By 2012 the club had dropped to the B-Division.

The way back took five years and ended with a season nobody could pick a fault in: nine wins, one draw, no defeats, the 2017 National League. They kept the title in 2018 and added the Thimphu League the same year, then went into the AFC Cup qualifiers against Bengaluru FC.

Dawa Kuenjung Tshering was the player of that stretch, most valuable player across 2017 and 2018, before he left for Thimphu City — the one they meet in the Thimphu Derby — for a fee of Nu 250,000, a record in Bhutanese football.

Changlimithang Stadium, where the derby is played, seats 15,000; both sides call it home.

The maroon and yellow are recent. The club had played in white at home until June 2024, when the new kits were brought in to mark the 400th anniversary of the Zhung Dratshang. The nickname is older: The Commanders.

Tsenda Dorji reached his 50th goal for the club in 2023.
