The Sala Sporturilor Gabriela Szabo seats 1,100, a modest hall that has not stopped Voluntari collecting silverware inside it. The club plays there because it plays for the town itself: CSO Voluntari was set up in 2005 on the initiative of the mayor's office, a municipal project rather than a breakaway from an older institution, which places it among the newest names in Romanian basketball rather than among its old guard.

That municipal backing has translated into results on court faster than the club's age would suggest. Voluntari has taken the Romanian Basketball Cup three times, in 2021, 2022 and 2025, the most recent of them a 93-83 final win over CSM Oradea on 16 February 2025 — the same opponent the club had already beaten in the 2021 final. In the Liga Națională, the domestic league, the club's best finish came in 2022, when it ended the season as runner-up.

The 2025 Cup was not the club's only trophy that year: Voluntari also won the European North Basketball League, against a run of opponents that took the team from Poland to Estonia and Norway. Home games are still played in white with navy stripes, the colours the club has carried since a mayor's office decided a town of this size should have a basketball team of its own.
