Dobrudja

The story the club still tells is a title decided against Shumen, its old enemy from across the league table, in the 2011/2012 final series of the Bulgarian National Championship.

Handball in Dobrich runs back to 1959, when the club was formed under colours it has kept ever since, yellow and green, which gave it the nickname the Yellow-Greens. The following season after the title brought no repeat: Dobrudzha finished runners-up in 2012/2013, beaten again by Shumen.

The Bulgarian Cup came earlier and more than once. Dobrudzha won it in 2009 and again in 2011, either side of a runners-up finish in 2010. The 2017/2018 campaign ended at the semi-final stage, beaten by Chardafon Gabrovo, with Lokomotiv Varna taking the cup that year.

Georgi Andreev coached the side through its championship run, with goalkeeper Ivan Ivanov, known as Zmyata, and captain Iliyan Iliev among the names still tied to that season. The club plays out of the Rusalca Hall in Dobrich.
