HK Levski Sofia

Every meeting with CSKA Sofia in handball still gets billed as the Eternal Derby.

The handball team grew out of the same Sofia sports club founded in 1914. Its one title season, 1968-69, came under a different name altogether: Levski-Spartak, after a merger with Spartak Sofia. That championship remains the section's single entry in the record books.

The club still carries the nicknames that belong to the wider Levski brand — Sinite, the Blues, and Sinyata Lavina, the Blue Avalanche. Home games have been split between two Sofia venues, the hall at SC Kiro and the one at the Military Academy G.S. Rakovski.

Levski have gone through the decades since 1969 without adding to that solitary championship, and the Bulgarian Handball Cup has never gone their way either — appearances in the competition, but no final, and no trophy.
