Fregata Burgas

Three championships in a row, 2014 to 2016, is the stretch that Fregata Burgas points to first, and the 2014 season came with both trophies at once: the league title and the Bulgarian Cup, sealed with a 31–22 win over Dobrudzha Dobrich in the final. The club also carries forward the record of HC Port Burgas, whose run of championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999 it treats as part of its own history, even though Fregata itself was formed in 2005.

Goalkeeping work ran through the best of those years: Dimitar Asenov was named the Bulgarian Cup's best goalkeeper in the 2015/16 season.

Nothing about Fregata's rivalry needs much explaining once it is named. Games against HC Spartak Varna are billed as the "Morsko derbi" — the Sea Derby.

Fregata's own ground fits closer to a training hall than an arena: the Nikola Stanchev Sports Hall in Burgas holds 150 people, a number that leaves little room for anyone but the club's own crowd to watch blue and white take the floor in the city on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.
