HC Dobrudzha Dobrich has done similar damage more recently, ending Spartak's cup runs at the semi-final stage in both 2012 and 2014.
The section traces back to 1963, when Dimitar Nushev-Barona set up handball inside the "ZSK-Spartak" club structure; the team played for a time as "Lokomotiv" before the Spartak name returned. Those two cups remain the honours the club can actually claim, despite finals credited to it elsewhere for 2012 and 2014 that never happened — both years ended in semi-final exits to Dobrudzha.
Matches are played at the Vladislav Sports Hall in the Ticha Sports Complex, under the "Sokolite" nickname — the Falcons — in red and white.
