Örnsköldsvik's women had a team before the SDHL existed to hold one: the section took shape in 1969 under Ulla Jonsson, playing its first fixture against Timrå IK, the club with whom it still contests the Länsderby.

No other club has taken more Swedish Championship medals in the women's game. The one gold came in 2011/2012, a 1-0 final win over Brynäs IF, but the bulk of the haul is silver and bronze: five runner-up finishes stretching from 1988/1989 to as recently as 2023/2024, and nine third-place finishes concentrated in the 2000s, a run that peaked with regular-season titles in both 2012/2013 and 2013/2014.

Therése Sjölander holds the club records for points, goals and assists. Home games are played at Hägglunds Arena, expanded in 2021 to hold 7,115 for hockey.

What the run of silvers and bronzes has not produced is a second gold.
