Virkiä

Joshua Kossila spent his career putting the puck in the net for a club that most of Lapua still associates with a bat and a ball. He finished as Virkiä's all-time leading scorer with 385 points, ahead of Tommi Rintasalo's 170 goals and Juho Niemelä's 291 points, numbers built almost entirely below the sport's top two tiers. The pesäpallo side across the same club has taken 11 national championships; the hockey department, founded in 1963 within a multi-sport organisation that dates back to 1907, has never reached Liiga or Mestis.

What it has managed sits a level or two down. Virkiä won the II-divisioona, the fourth tier, in 2017–18, then twice pushed on to the Suomi-sarja final as runners-up, in 2019–20 and again in 2024–25. Leevi Kukkonen's 341 appearances mark him out as one of the few who stayed through that stretch.

Home games are played in front of 540 seats. There is no fixed derby to mark on the calendar, only the standing friction with clubs from elsewhere in South Ostrobothnia, Seinäjoki Ice among them, the kind of regional needle that does not need a name to matter on the night.
