Hunters

Its ice hockey has never reached higher than the third tier.

The club has come closest to moving up the pyramid twice. In 2018–2019 it finished runner-up in the Suomi-sarja playoffs, only to fall in the Mestis qualification round. The regular-season title arrived instead, first in 2017–2018 and again in 2021–2022, when Hunters also took bronze after losing the semi-final to JHT. A year later the pattern repeated almost exactly: third in the regular season, beaten again by JHT in the semis, no medal this time.

JHT keeps turning up at the wrong moment for Hunters.

That junior pipeline, known as Hunters Juniors, has sent players further than the club itself has gone. Ville Tenosalmi spent 2017–2018 on loan at Hunters before moving on to Perth Thunder in Australia's national league. Goaltending has travelled even further afield: Kiia Lahtinen went on to Finland's U18 women's national team, while Henrik Virro was called up by Estonia.
