Cooks Hill United moved up to seventh in the NPL Northern New South Wales table with a 4-2 victory over Kahiba in Regular Season round 22. The away side took control after Kahiba had taken an early lead, then held firm despite a missed penalty in the closing stages.
Kahiba struck first at the 30-minute mark before Cooks Hill United responded with three goals in quick succession at 44, 53 and 60 minutes. Kahiba pulled one back at 89 but the visitors had already secured the result.
At 77 minutes Cooks Hill United had a chance to extend their lead when a penalty was awarded, but the spot-kick was missed. Kahiba scored their second goal moments later in the 89th minute, but it made no difference to the outcome.
The result leaves Kahiba in 12th place with 14 points from 15 games, while Cooks Hill United move up to seventh with 19 points. Kahiba have won four, drawn two and lost nine matches this season.
Kahiba's recent form has been uneven, with two wins and three defeats in their last five league matches. Cooks Hill United have won three of their last five, though they drew against Adamstown Rosebud on 8 August and lost to Broadmeadow Magic on 31 July.
