Juvenia Krakow

Rugby returned to Juvenia in 1973 only because Krzysztof Kalisz insisted on it: the section had run once before, in 1950, and folded almost immediately for lack of money. Kalisz's version held, and by August 1974 the club had played its first official match. Even that second start was not the end of the interruptions — in 1986 the rugby side was folded into Korona Kraków, and Juvenia had no team of its own again until 1993.

What the club built afterwards came in bursts. Promotion to the First League arrived in 2000, promotion to the Ekstraliga in 2005, and relegation followed twice, in 2003 and again after the 2011/12 season. The closest Juvenia came to a national title was in 2009, a bronze medal after a semi-final defeat to Arka Gdynia — the only Ekstraliga medal in the club's history. Sevens rugby has been kinder: silver in 2002, then bronze three years running, in 2019, 2020 and 2021. This season the club reached the final of the Puchar Ekstraligi, losing 17-43 to WizjaMed Grot Budowlani Łódź.

One name from the 1980s still gets mentioned: Janusz Wilk, a national team player who set a scoring record for the club in 1988. Foreign players have passed through more recently, among them Riaan van Zyl, Austin van Heerden and Peet Vorster.

The club has no fixed rival with a named derby, but Ogniwo Sopot is the fixture that matters most in the Ekstraliga, a meeting between two cities with nothing between them but distance. Juvenia's own ground, Stadion Juvenii on ul. Na Błoniach, holds 800, and the team still runs out in the white and blue taken from the flag of Kraków.
