The Polish Rugby Union Ekstraliga (Rugby Ekstraliga) stands as the premier national league for men's rugby union in Poland, operating under the authority of the Polish Rugby Union (Polski Związek Rugby). Established in 1957, the competition began life as the I Liga before adopting its current title during the mid-to-late 2000s. It occupies the highest position within the Polish rugby hierarchy.
The 2024–25 campaign involves nine clubs, including Orkan Sochaczew, Bialystok, Juvenia Krakow, Lechia Gdansk, Master Pharm Lodz, and Pogon Awenta Siedlce. The schedule follows a standard round-robin structure where participants face each other twice across home and away fixtures. This regular season phase leads into a championship playoff for the leading teams, culminating in a decisive final match. Points are awarded based on wins and draws, with additional incentives for high-scoring performances or narrow defeats.
Historical success belongs largely to AZS-AWF Warsaw, which has secured sixteen titles, while Lechia Gdańsk follows with thirteen. Ogniwo Sopot rounds out the top three with eleven victories. The most recent champion is Pogoń Siedlce, who claimed the title after beating Orkan Sochaczew in the final. Notable structural shifts include the introduction of the playoff system in the 2002/2003 season and reforms implemented in 1971.
Relegation sees the bottom-placed side contest a playoff against the winner of the I Liga, the second division. Unlike football or handball, Polish rugby lacks a Super Cup, leaving the Puchar Polski (Polish Cup) as the primary knockout tournament for senior teams. The league operates without a permanent title sponsor, although individual clubs frequently incorporate their commercial partners into their official names.
