Recoleta

Recoleta the football club exists because the mayor of the commune, Daniel Jadue, decided it needed one. On 23 January 2014 he asked a local coach, Fabián Marzuca, to put together a squad and enter it in the amateur divisions. The club was not built on the remains of an older side, and it has kept the same name ever since.

Recoleta won the Tercera División B in 2015, then finished runners-up in the Tercera División A the following year, a result that took them into the professional pyramid. In the Primera B, they finished 16th and stayed up only because the competition's rules allowed it.

That 2021 squad included Gerson Acevedo, a product of Colo-Colo's academy who had already played in Russia for Rostov and been called into the Chile national squad before he turned out for Recoleta.

Recoletanos, as the club and its supporters are known, still play in white and blue at the same municipal ground on Avenida Recoleta where Marzuca's amateur side first took the field.
