THY Claim Second Victory Over Kuzeyboru in Sultan's League
THY Women secured a 3:1 victory against Kuzeyboru Gençlik Spor Women on 14 October in the Sultan's League. The away side took all three points at the home court, a result that followed their earlier 3:0 win on 27 September. By then, THY had established themselves as the team to beat. Kuzeyboru, sitting in 11th place with just one point from two matches, found themselves on the wrong end of another defeat. To be fair, the gap in quality had been visible since the first meeting.
THY arrived in Istanbul having won both of their opening fixtures. They had dispatched Afyon Belediyespor 3:1 on 11 October and taken down Galatasaray 3:2 four days earlier. The away side's confidence was evident. Kuzeyboru, meanwhile, had fought hard against Manisa BB last weekend before losing 3:1, and their 2:3 defeat to Afyon Belediyespor showed they could compete but not close out results. Things came to a head from the opening set.
The match itself delivered what the visitors had promised. THY controlled the tempo and did not allow Kuzeyboru to settle into any rhythm. The home side managed to take one set, a small consolation in what was otherwise a comprehensive performance. There is no value left at that number when you face a side that has already won twice. THY saw the game out with composure, closing out the victory without drama. The scoreline reflected the flow of play.
Standing tall at fourth place with five points, THY maintained their perfect start. Kuzeyboru remained rooted to 11th with a single point from two losses. The result extended THY's winning run to two matches while adding to Kuzeyboru's setbacks. It is worth noting that THY had already played Kuzeyboru once this season and won comfortably. This time they were slightly more measured in their approach. The table does not lie.
What this means for the league is straightforward. THY have proven they belong at the top. Kuzeyboru have more work to do if they want to climb away from the bottom. The away side now hold the head-to-head advantage over their opponents. Both teams have one match remaining before the first round concludes. There are games to be played and points to be won.
