Leningradka Women

The 2024/25 season began in the Academy of Volleyball named after Vyacheslav Platonov on Vyazovaya Street, a hall of 1,500 seats. For the three seasons before that, the team had played in the sports complex of Saint Petersburg State Maritime Technical University.

The Soviet championship gave the club eight bronze medals between 1945 and 1957 and four silvers, the last of them in 1957. By then the team no longer carried its original name. It played as Spartak until 1978, and in that time won the USSR Cup in 1976 and 1977. From 1978 it was TTU. Under that name it took the 1980 silver.

Galina Elnitskaya-Leontyeva, an Olympic champion in 1968 and 1972, is a name from that era associated with the club. More recent players include Olga Nikolaeva, an Olympic silver medallist in 2004, and the Serbian Mina Popovich.

The current name dates from 2003, when the team became part of the sports club Kapitan. Supporters call it the Wild Bees, or «Yellow-black love».

Before any of that, in 1935, the team was a volleyball side under the sports society Spartak, and it kept that name for its first 43 years.
