St. Polten Women

The ceiling at HTL St. Pölten was too low. That decided where the Panthers would play once they had been promoted to the Austrian Volleyball League (AVL) in 2023/2024. Bundesliga matches need more height than the old venue could give, so the team moved to the Sportzentrum Niederösterreich on Dr. Adolf Schärf-Straße.

The promotion ended a long stay one level down. The women had played in the 1. Bundesliga in 2010/2011, then spent 2014/2015, 2015/2016 and 2018/2019 in the 2. Bundesliga, where they still compete alongside their AVL Women's fixtures and the Austria Cup. The volleyball section was set up in 1975 inside SPORTUNION St. Pölten, an organisation that had existed since 1945. In 2025 it left the parent body and became a branch club of its own, Volleyballteam USP Panthers. Some in the city still call the team the Panther-Ladies.

The new home is a complex with 2,000 seats in total, but the volleyball is played in its Ballsporthalle. That hall has a fixed tribune, and adding a second one takes it to 1,200 spectators. Next door is the bet-at-home Arena, which holds up to 900. A club that once had to count the metres above its own court now has a hall it can fill in stages, depending on who visits.
