Roland Gattermayr was already coaching the Inzing women in 2022/23, and he has taken them from there to the first division. They earned promotion for 2026/27 by winning the second division, the 2. Bundesliga (AVL Women), in 2025/26 with a single defeat.

They did it as a joint team. For 2024/25 and 2025/26 the women played with Volleyballclub Mils under the name SG Sportunion Inzing/Volleyballclub Mils. The same season brought a final in the Austrian VolleyCup II, lost to TI-volley Innsbruck. TI-volley is Inzing's main rival, and the meetings between the two are known as the Tiroler Derby, so the defeat came against the opponent that matters most in Tyrol.

Among the players, Julia Ebner is the one the club points to. She is only the second player in its history to be called up to the Austrian national team. Her sister Anna plays alongside her, and the outside hitter Emilia Lamprecht and the setter Pia Oberhofer, born in 2001 and 2003, are the other names that come up around the senior side.

The club began as a physical education class. A teacher's gym group at HS Inzing played volleyball, non-teachers joined, and in April 1984 it became the volleyball section of Sportunion Inzing, a sports association that had existed since 1947. It now has about 200 active members and 16 youth teams from U12 to U20. The U12 girls won the Tyrolean championship in 2026.

This season the blue-and-black shirts are worn in the top division for the first time under Gattermayr.
