Waldviertel Women reached a final series against SK Zadruga Aich/Dob in 2021/22 and won it 4:0. The women's side had already taken the Lower Austria Cup in 2018/19, beating Bisamberg/Hollabrunn 3:2 in Hausmening.

The club started out in 1997 as Union Volleyball Arbesbach, then joined forces with sides from Zwettl, and only took the name Union Volleyball Waldviertel once that joint venture settled into place in the 2013/14 season. The women's team carries the URW-Girlz tag from that same merger.

European nights have been part of the club's calendar too: five appearances in the CEV Challenge Cup between 2012/13 and 2017/18, and a run into the CEV Cup in 2018/19. The MEVZA League has been a more regular fixture, and 2019/20 brought a place in its Final Four.

Underneath the first team, the age-group sides have kept producing champions of their own; the U15 girls were crowned Austrian champions in 2024.

Matches are played at Stadthalle Zwettl, a hall that holds 350 on its tribune and up to 1,500 in total, in a small Lower Austrian town that has ended up carrying the whole region's name into the club's own.
