Avellino Basket are back in Serie A2 for 2025-26 under Massimo Maffezzoli, with a squad built around Marcellus Earlington, Federico Mussini and Matías Bortolín.

The Wolves (I Lupi) wear white and green and fill the 5,300-seat PalaDel Mauro. Their fiercest rivalry is with Juvecaserta, and the Derby Campano is the fixture where the table goes out of the window.

The weight of the city's basketball sits in what came before. The historic S.S. Felice Scandone, founded in 1948, won the Coppa Italia in 2008 by beating Virtus Bologna 73–67. Devin Smith took the Final Four MVP award that weekend. The team lost the Supercoppa Italiana finals in 2008 and 2016. In 2018 it reached the FIBA Europe Cup final, where Reyer Venezia beat it.

Scandone went bankrupt, and the present legal entity was set up in 2021 as ASD Del Fes Avellino, so that the city would still have a team.
