Badajoz

Basketball came to Badajoz in the 1940s, when Círculo Badajoz opened a section that stayed active until the 1960s. Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Badajoz, known as BCB and marketed as Vítaly La Mar BCB, was formed in 2004 as its successor.

The link to Círculo ran through people as well as the name. Ángel Colino and Nacho Martín both played for Círculo in 2003–04, the season before the new club appeared. Martín went on to the ACB, the top division in Spain, with Barcelona and Gran Canaria. Colino stayed in the game and is now BCB's sports director.

The club reached Segunda FEB (LEB Plata) in May 2024. Four months later, on 7 September, it organised the first Supercopa Ibérica de Baloncesto in the city, with Real Madrid and Benfica as the two sides. BCB did not play in it. It was the host.

Within Extremadura, the fixture that matters is the Derbi Extremeño against Bosco Mérida Patrimonio de la Humanidad. There is also a Derbi Pacense with CBA Academy Spain, a second local meeting, though a less charged one.

Pabellón La Granadilla holds 5,046 and was renovated between 2024 and 2026. BCB's first seasons in Segunda FEB overlapped with that work, so the pavilion changed while the team was settling into the division.
