«Pucela»
In Valladolid, in Castile and León, people from the city are Pucelanos, and the basketball team took the city's nickname as its own: Pucela. The club was formed on 31 August 1976 as successor to ADC Castilla.
Valladolid played 30 of the 31 ACB seasons up to 2015. In 1985 the team left the Polideportivo Huerta del Rey for the Pabellón Polideportivo Pisuerga, a hall of 6,800 seats, and stayed there until the end.
In 1991-92 Valladolid reached the semi-finals of the Korać Cup. In 1990-91 they lost the final of the Copa del Príncipe. The Copa del Rey brought semi-finals in 1984-85, 1987-88 and 1997-98, and a quarter-final in 2010-11.
The club was dissolved in 2015 and replaced by CB Ciudad de Valladolid, which plays in LEB Plata, the third tier.
The name people outside Valladolid still recall is Oscar Schmidt. Against CB Murcia in 1993-94 he made 11 three-pointers in a single game, an ACB record.
