Algeciras

For twenty years Algeciras had no club carrying the UDEA name. Unión Deportiva Escolar Algeciras, set up in 1969 with a basketball section that later turned professional, dissolved in 1997. In 2017 Javier Malla, a former player, brought it back.

The revived side did not have to wait long. In 2019 it won Liga EBA Group D-B and went up to LEB Plata, now called Segunda FEB. Two of the people from those years stayed with the club in other roles. Miki Ortega was captain and top scorer in LEB Plata, then moved to the bench as head coach. Sam Buxton, a Gibraltar international, played for the club and later became its president.

In August 2025 UDEA Baloncesto merged with Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Algeciras. The result is Club Baloncesto Algeciras, which keeps the old nickname, UDEA, and navy blue and yellow colours. It plays at the Pabellón Ciudad de Algeciras, a hall that opened on 27 November 1988.

The fixture that matters most to the town is against Unión Linense de Baloncesto, from La Línea de la Concepción.

The Copa Diputación de Cádiz, also known as the Copa Memorial Carlos Duque, was the first thing the new club won, and it kept winning it. UDEA took the title in every year from 2017 to 2022. Caja 87 Sevilla beat them in the 2023 final. The merged club took the cup again in 2025. That makes six titles in a row.
