On 2 February 1992, Huesca beat Zaragoza 74-72, the club's first official victory in the Aragonese derby.

The club had started in 1977 as Club Deportivo Peñas Recreativas de Huesca. It was legally constituted on 24 August 1981 and reached the ACB in 1983. It stayed for 12 seasons, until 1996, and its best finish was 10th in 1987-88. That period gave the club its nickname, La Magia de Huesca. Sponsors' names came and went on the shirts: Argal-Huesca from 1992 to 1994, then Somontano Huesca until the end of the top-flight years.

The way back began in 2005, when the club won the Liga EBA and was promoted to LEB2. In 2006 it reached the Copa LEB 2 final and lost 88-79 to Autocid Ford Burgos. It went one better in the Copa LEB Plata in 2010, beating Huelva la Luz 89-67. By then the club was Lobe Huesca, a name it carried from 2008 to 2016.

Huesca now play in the Segunda FEB, in green and white at the Palacio Municipal de los Deportes. The 10th place of 1987-88 is still the best finish in the club's history, and no season since 1996 has been played in the ACB.
