Basketball in Albacete had two schools and no single team to carry them. CABA, the Club Amigos Baloncesto Albacete, and EBA, the Escuelas Baloncesto Albacete, had each been developing players in the city for years. On 3 September 2012 they merged into one club.

The new side, known for sponsorship reasons as Bueno Arenas Albacete Basket, climbed steadily. Promotion to LEB Plata came in 2016. The club won the LEB Plata regular season in 2022 and went up to LEB Oro, the second tier of Spanish basketball. That season in LEB Oro, 2022-23, ended in relegation.

Home is the Pabellón del Parque, also called the Pabellón Abelardo Sánchez, a hall for 1,200 spectators. The fans call themselves the Greenlovers, after the club's green and lime colours, and the derby they care about most is the Derbi Manchego against CB Almansa. Provincial meetings with FG La Roda and Club Baloncesto Toledo add to the calendar.

The women's side, Club Baloncesto Albacete Femenino, has played in Liga Femenina 2 and the tiers below it. It won the regional Trofeo JCCM in 2024 and the Copa RibéSalat in 2025.

The player Albacete supporters point to is Guillem Ferrando. In 2023 he became the first Albacete Basket player called up to the Spanish senior national team.
