Fryshuset Basket

Fryshuset has spent decades as a hub for young people chasing music, skating and sport under one roof, and it lent its name to the basketball club that trains inside its own sports hall there. The team was KFUM Söder before 2009.

The 1950s belonged to the men's team. Between 1954 and 1962 it took the Swedish championship eight times, missing only 1958 in that stretch. The women followed with a title of their own in 1973, the club's last under its own name.

In 1991 the elite men's side stopped competing under its own banner, folding into Stockholm Capitals and later into 08 Stockholm Human Rights alongside Alvik BK; those collaborations kept winning championships through the 1990s and 2000s, but the silverware went with the merged names rather than back to Fryshuset.

Barra Njie wore the shirt in the 2020-21 season and was named Basketligan Rookie of the Year before moving on to the NBA G League and Löwen Braunschweig. Matches against AIK Basket still carry the weight of the Stockholmsderby.

Fryshuset Basket now competes in Superettan, the second tier of Swedish basketball, working its way back toward the top flight of a city it once dominated.
