Ockelbo

Ockelbo Basket sit in the Superettan, the country's second tier, a level the club returned to in 2020.

The men's side had spent 2003 to 2007 in the top division, Elitserien, before the money ran out and the club filed for bankruptcy on 13 February 2007. The senior team dropped to Division 2 and, for several years afterward, Ockelbo kept itself alive mainly through youth basketball. A new entity, carrying the Ockelbo Basket name, took over the tradition and worked its way back up.

The club began in 1969, when Zoltan and Lena, together with a handful of others interested in the game, sat down at Lindström's café and decided to start it. Six decades on it still plays in white at home and black away, in a small municipality that has kept producing basketball talent out of proportion to its size. The women's team had its own run in Elitserien between 1995 and 1999, and for a couple of seasons around 2011–2012 the men's side pooled resources with Gävle, playing as Gävle/Ockelbo BBK. No Swedish Championship or Swedish Cup sits in the trophy cabinet, but the club's real export has been players: several who came through Ockelbo's youth ranks went on to win championships elsewhere.

Among them, Per Lundström is the name still spoken of in the town — the player Ockelbo produced before he went elsewhere and won what the home club never has.
