In 2025 the Akademiczki won their first Polish Cup, and in the same year the Super Cup, both against a Gdynia side they had met in so many finals before. Elena Tsineke was named most valuable player of the Cup final. For a club that has finished second in the Basket Liga Kobiet five times, in 2009, 2010, 2019, 2024 and 2025, and has never taken the title, they are significant achievements.

The team has been in Gorzów Wielkopolski since 2001, when it took over from the women's section of ZKS Stilon, which dated from 1957. Dariusz Maciejewski has been head coach for the whole of that time. Under him the team collected bronze medals six times, and lost the 2023 and 2026 Cup finals. The rivalry with VBW Gdynia has run through the finals of the league, the cup and the Super Cup. Polkowice is the other side they measure themselves against.

Katarzyna Dźwigalska played for the club from 2001 to 2022 and had her number 4 retired that year. Justyna Żurowska-Cegielska captained the side from 2002 to 2011 and won several MVP awards.

Players from abroad and from the club's own academy have passed through, among them Kahleah Copper, Alanna Smith and Stephanie Talbot. The team plays in navy blue, light blue and white, and its main venue, Arena Gorzów, holds 5,191. On some match days it moves to the 1,000-seat hall of the Jakub z Paradyża Academy.
