Komotini

Komotini is back in the A2 Elite League this season, the club's second tier of Greek basketball, after thirty years spent away from that level. The return, completed in 2025, followed a long stretch in the National League and lower local divisions, and it changed how the club talks about itself in Thrace.

The team plays at the Municipal Indoor Gymnasium of Komotini, a 650-seat hall on Grigoriou Marasli, in the club's blue and red. Games against Lefkippos Xanthi carry the weight of the Thrace derby.

Komotini has no major trophy in its history. What it has built instead is an academy record that keeps producing players who move on: Pavlos Petalotis went into the Aris Thessaloniki academy, Andreas Bekris reached the Greek Basket League, and Marios Patsos was capped for Greece's under-16 side. The youth setup reached the Final 6 of the national youth championship in 2009.

In September 2025 the club announced a strategic partnership with Olympiacos, a tie that arrived just as the first team stepped back into the Elite League.

No name is tied to the club more than Vasilis Koutsovasilis, who spent thirteen years wearing its colours. Players came through the academy and left for bigger stages; Koutsovasilis stayed.
