Nice Women

Across the Côte d'Azur, the fixture that matters to Niss'Angels supporters is against Monaco Women.

The club traces back to a wartime merger of three Nice sides — AS Caisno, La Victorine and Gala Club — brought together in 1943. What followed was decades of reshuffling: a union with Nice Sports in 1955, a fusion with Nice Olympic Basket in 2007, and then another merger in 2009 with Nice Côte d'Azur Basket. The current association, Cavigal Nice Basket 06, was only registered in 2010, and even after that the club spent from October 2018 to March 2020 under judicial reorganisation.

None of that stopped the Niss'Angels from climbing. Coach Olga Tarasenko took the team up through the lower divisions and into the top-flight Ligue Féminine de Basket, then into the EuroCup Women, where Nice reached the round of 16 in 2016-17. The club topped Ligue Féminine 2 three times, in 2011, 2014 and 2015, and finished as high as second in the LFB in 2012-13. The clearest marker of where the club stands now came in 2023, when it won the NF1 title and beat Club Basket d'IFS 79-75 to take the Coupe de France's Trophée Féminin.
