SYNTAINICS MBC Women

SYNTAINICS MBC Women share the Stadthalle Weißenfels with a men's side that has spent the past two decades collecting the kind of silverware the women's team has yet to find room for: a EuroCup Challenge in 2004, a BBL-Pokal in 2025, three ProA titles. The women play under the same roof, the same blue and orange, and a name that keeps changing with the sponsor — GisaLions until 2022, SYNTAINICS MBC after that, halfit Lions from 2026.

The basketball department at Weißenfels dates to September 1958, spun off from a sports club founded six years earlier, and it carries a history the current name does little to advertise: predecessor sides won twenty East German championships between 1960 and 1990, a run that ended with reunification and has not been matched since under any of the club's later identities. The 1. DBBL era has been leaner. The team reached the semi-finals in 2018/19 and again in 2023/24, and finished third in both 2024 and 2025.

No DBBL championship and no German Cup sit in the cabinet yet. The Stadthalle holds 3,000.

Ask around Weißenfels who the club belongs to and the answer tends to circle back to the arena itself — the one constant through every change of shirt sponsor.
