Mistelbach Mustangs had beaten Wagram in the Zweite Liga final once already, in 2023–24, and did it again the following season, when Wörthersee Piraten took the title instead. By the spring of 2026 the Alligators had lost two finals running, and when the same two sides met for a third time, over a 2–1 series, the pattern finally broke: Deutsch-Wagram took the championship.

The club plays under the name Union Alligators Deutsch-Wagram, the basketball wing of Sportunion Deutsch-Wagram, and the nickname is newer than it looks — adopted in 2002, long after the section itself started in 1964, four decades after the parent sports union had already been going.

Green and black are the club's colours, and Deutsch-Wagram, a small town in Lower Austria, has followed the team through spells with little to show beyond youth silverware — a Lower Austria U10 championship in 2009–10, an Austrian 3x3 title for the women's side in 2011–12 — before the run of three straight finals against Mistelbach gave the town something to argue about locally. BBC Tulln remains the club's nearest rival, without either side having settled on a name for the fixture.

None of that touches the top flight: Wagram has never reached the Superliga or lifted the Austrian Cup, and the Zweite Liga title is the highest point reached.
