The ICC Women's T20 World Cup is the premier global championship for women's Twenty20 International cricket. Organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the tournament was established in 2009. For the first decade, it operated under the brand name ICC Women's World Twenty20 before reverting to its current title. It stands as the top-tier competition within the international pyramid for the T20 format.

The event takes place biennially. While the initial editions featured eight participants, the structure has expanded over time. The 2014 tournament marked a shift to ten teams, a configuration maintained through recent years. The 2026 edition in England and Wales introduced a twelve-team format. Teams are split into groups, with the top two from each advancing to the semi-finals and the final. Qualification relies on ICC rankings and regional qualifiers, culminating in a Global Qualifier tournament for associate nations.

Australia holds the record for success, claiming the title seven times. Their victories span from 2010 to 2026. New Zealand secured the 2024 edition by defeating South Africa in the final. Australia also won the 2026 title against England. Individual milestones include Meg Lanning’s highest score of 126 not out in 2014 and Deandra Dottin’s fastest century of 112 off 45 balls in 2010.

A significant financial shift occurred in 2024 when the ICC equalized prize money between the women's and men's tournaments. The winner receives USD 2.34 million. The competition has largely avoided commercial title sponsorship in its official name, unlike the men's counterpart, though promotional tours have seen backing from entities such as DP World.
