Academia Cantolao and Molinos El Pirata shared the points in a 1-1 draw during the fifteenth round of the Segunda División on Saturday at the Estadio Mansiche. The result leaves the hosts in eighth place with ten points from fourteen matches, while the visitors remain fourth on twenty-four points.
Academia Cantolao took the lead in the twenty-sixth minute through E. Crisostomo, who had been a regular for the side last season and looked sharp in the box. Earlier, in the eighth minute, the hosts had missed a penalty — by then the goalkeeper had already read the run, and there was nothing to be done. Molinos El Pirata responded with a goal of their own in the seventy-fourth minute, H. Hoyos finishing from close range after a shift in the midfield.
Both managers made changes around the hour mark as the game settled into a pattern. Academia Cantolao brought on V. Delgado and T. Alessandria in the seventy-third minute, while Molinos El Pirata introduced P. Pizuri in the seventy-ninth. The substitutions did not change the balance of the match, to be fair — each side had already camped in the final third for periods of the game.
Academia Cantolao had possession of forty-one per cent of the ball but managed four shots on target, while Molinos El Pirata registered five. The visitors won five corners to six, and had more attacks overall at ninety-seven to eighty-seven. That sort of dominance without a second goal meant the chances went begging for the away side.
Four yellow cards were shown to Academia Cantolao, including S. Rojas before half-time and C. Uribe in the forty-ninth minute. Molinos El Pirata received one card, while two further bookings came in stoppage time. The referee kept the match under control, though neither side needed the points badly enough to risk sending someone off.
