The reserve side does not own the Estadio Huancayo. The ground belongs to the main club's calendar first; Sport Huancayo II play their home matches there because there is nowhere else.

The first leg had been won away, 2-1 against Estudiantil CNI, and the aggregate carried Sport Huancayo II to the title in the opening edition of Liga 3. Promotion to the Segunda División followed for the 2026 season.

The side began appearing in the reserve tournament in 2010, three years after the senior club was formed, and finished tenth in that first season. It cannot enter the Copa de la Liga, because reserve teams are barred.

Everything visible about the team is borrowed from the parent club — red and orange at home, green away, and since 2023 a crest with a single lion where two once stood. The nickname travels too: Rojo Matador, after the shirt.
