Timphu City took all three points on the road, beating RTC 2:1 in the Regular Season of the Premier League on 10 September 2026. The visitors, sitting second in the table, saw their lead extend while the hosts, fifth with 18 points, dropped ground in the race for the top spots.
RTC opened the scoring when Jitsuen Dorjii found the net in the 33rd minute, giving the home side a brief advantage. Timphu City responded with two late goals — one in the 84th minute and another in stoppage time at 90+1 — to complete the turnaround.
We had called for the away win with 45 per cent confidence before kick-off, and the result proved us right. Timphu City didn't dominate the early exchanges, but they kept their heads and struck when it mattered.
Before the match RTC sat on 18 points from 13 games, five wins, three draws and five losses. Timphu City held 28 points, eight victories, four draws and a single defeat. The win moves them further clear of the chasing pack while RTC's position in the middle of the table looks increasingly precarious.
The recent form of both sides told a different story. RTC had drawn with Buthan U19 and lost to Paro, while Timphu City went through with a 7:1 win over Tensun and a 4:0 victory against the same side two weeks apart.
What stands out is not the scoreline but the timing. RTC threw themselves at the game after going behind, but Timphu City played the second half a man up in spirit if not in numbers. The crowd roared them on, but the visitors saw the game out with calm efficiency.
