Renzo Sánchez Veiga

Two ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament in the same right knee have shaped Renzo Sánchez Veiga's career. The first came on 4 March 2023 against Cerro and cost him the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He returned, and then the same knee went again on 10 March 2024 against Defensor Sporting. That second recurrence kept him out for 14 months.

Before the injuries, he came through Palermo F.C. de Rocha, spent 2019 at River Plate and joined Nacional in 2020, signing his first professional contract there in 2022. His senior debut came on 22 September 2022, off the bench in a Copa Uruguay tie against Rampla Juniors that Nacional lost 3–0. He was in the squad that won the 2022 Uruguayan Primera División title.

The Uruguay youth sides used him heavily: 26 caps and five goals at U20 level between 2022 and 2023, including the run to second place at the 2023 South American U-20 Championship. In 2024 he added five caps and a goal for the U23s at the CONMEBOL Pre-Olympic Tournament, working under Marcelo Bielsa.

Since coming back he has been moved around on loan. Juventud took him in August 2025, where he made 13 appearances and scored once in the Copa Libertadores. In July 2026 he went to Montevideo Wanderers, arriving as the replacement for Bruno Arady. No fee was disclosed for either move.
