B36 II

Gundadalur sits above the harbour in Tórshavn, a bowl of terraces with 5,000 seats and a view down to the water that away teams remember as much as the pitch itself. B36 II play their home fixtures there, on the same turf the first team uses, in 1. deild karla, the country's second tier — the club's proving ground for players not yet ready, or no longer needed, upstairs.

The reserve side carries the identity of B36 Tórshavn, founded on 28 March 1936 and known on the islands as the White Tigers, in white shirts with black shorts and socks. It is a name attached to one of the most decorated clubs in Faroese football: eleven league titles between 1946 and 2015, seven cups, a domestic double completed with the 2007 Super Cup. None of that silverware belongs to the second team directly — it plays in the shadow of it, a step below the first XI that has actually lifted the trophies.

What the reserve team offers instead is a pipeline. Mikkjal Agnarsson moved on from B36 to Viborg, then to Aarhus Fremad and Mjällby AIF, a route typical of Faroese players using Tórshavn as a launchpad to Scandinavian football. Meinhard Olsen came through the same system before finishing as the club's top scorer in 2018, the year Hannes Agnarsson scored the winner in the cup final — a trophy the first team's supporters still talk about more than the reserves' own results.

Rivalry in Tórshavn is a short walk, not a long drive: HB Tórshavn share the city, and matches between the two carry more weight locally than anything decided by table position, a derby the reserve sides inherit along with the shirt.
