EB / Streymur II

Two village clubs on Streymoy put their names together on 24 February 1993: EB from Eiði, playing since 1913, and Streymur, founded in 1976. The second team came with the arrangement — somewhere for the reserves and the young players of the merged club to get a league game rather than a training session, and it has been part of the structure ever since without ever being a club in its own right.

It took ten years to climb out of the bottom of the Faroese pyramid. The 2003 season was the first the second team spent in 2. deild, the third tier, and that division has been home for most of the years since. The exception came in 2018, when the side won it outright — the only trophy the team has to its name.

Promotion has proved easier to win than to survive. Tenth place in 1. deild in 2019, again in 2021, and again in 2023: three seasons in the second tier, three relegations straight back. The team returned to 1. deild in 2023 on the back of third place the previous autumn, and finished third in 2. deild again in 2024.

Home is Við Margáir in Streymnes, a thousand capacity, shared with the first team — which is the arrangement in miniature: the same ground, the same blue-and-black stripes, a different fixture list. Opponents are mostly other reserve sides from the same island, HB Tórshavn II and B36 Tórshavn II among them, so the fixtures repeat and the names on the teamsheet do not.

Those names occasionally belong to men the whole country knows. Hans Pauli Samuelsen has turned out here, not as a graduate working his way up but as a first-team player being eased back to fitness, which is the other job a second team does.
