EB/Streymur II and TB shared the spoils in a 2:2 draw during the 20th round of the 1. deild on Saturday. The match ended with a dramatic flourish in stoppage time, as the home side rescued a point after falling behind with just moments remaining.
M. Andersen gave EB/Streymur II an early advantage, striking in the 14th minute. The goal set the tone for a game where the home side, despite their struggles this season, looked to build from the opening exchanges.
TB responded through A. Arnholdsson, who levelled the score in the 65th minute. The visitors had arrived in better form, having won two of their previous five fixtures, and came for a cross he never reached as they sought to take control.
It seemed TB would complete the job when N. Johannesen put them ahead in the 90th minute. But by then, the home side refused to concede. B. Ennigard equalised in the 90+2nd minute, and the game was effectively over.
The result leaves EB/Streymur II still rooted in 10th place with 8 points from 21 games. They had lost five consecutive matches before this, including heavy defeats to Sūduva and B71. TB meanwhile remain 5th with 29 points, extending their unbeaten run to eight across all competitions.
For the home side, this was a welcome relief after a run of poor results. They never got going in the first half, but their determination in the closing stages showed character. The visitors, meanwhile, will consider this an dropped opportunity against a side they had beaten 3:1 in their previous encounter.
