That is the part of the record worth reading closely. Five 1. deild titles — 1978, 1983, 1990, 1993, 1996 — is not a sequence of triumphs but a sequence of returns; each promotion was followed, sooner or later, by a drop back.
The break came in the following decade. Europe arrived first, in the 2003–04 UEFA Cup, and the league title in 2007, fifty years after the founding and the only one the club has taken. The Super Cup followed in 2008.
Við Løkin opened in 1972 and holds around 1,500 on artificial turf, with a few hundred seats. The yellow and black gave the club its name in ordinary speech: Gular.
What the record still lacks is a second league title.
