Gijang United

Gijang County put a team into the K4 League: recruitment rules require players to have been born in Gijang-gun, to have graduated from a local school, or to have parents who lived in the county for at least three years. Registration went through on 9 January 2025, and the club was formally introduced at an inauguration ceremony that March, taking Gold and Navy Blue as its colours — the first for ambition, the second for the sea that borders the county.

Choi Jin-han, who had worked as an assistant coach with South Korea at the 2002 World Cup, took the first bench. The debut season went further than a new fourth-tier side might have expected: a first league win came 3-1 over FC Yeoncheon, and Gijang United finished fifth, two points off the title. They also went out and beat Busan Transportation Corporation FC 2-0 while representing the city at the National Sports Festival, since Busan Transportation Corporation is the closest thing the club has to a rival.

Jeong Jeong-soo, a former K League player, took over for 2026: ninth place, eight wins and ten losses, 28 goals scored against 36 conceded. Financial trouble surfaced that September, with reports circulating that the club might be dissolved; it played out the season regardless. Home games are watched from Jeongwan Sports Healing Park, which holds 2,200. Two seasons in, Gijang United has yet to win anything.
