Guadalupe's route into Costa Rica's top flight ran through two clubs standing in the way, and both were beaten during the same climb up the Liga de Ascenso. Jicaral Sercoba lost the Apertura 2024 final 2-0 away before Guadalupe held them scoreless at home to see it out. Futbol Consultants took the Clausura 2023/2024 decider to extra time, and it was Guadalupe who won it 2-1 on the road, an aggregate 3-2 that sent them up to Primera División. Both crowns came in the second tier; the top flight has not yet produced one.

Los Guadalupanos, as they're known, also answer to Guada, El equipo de la Villa and Los del Colleya. The home kit is a blue shirt, shorts and socks; away, white with blue trim and, on occasion, a touch of red.

Matches are played at Estadio Coyella Fonseca, which holds 4,500. Guadalupe were founded on 26 May 2017.
