Nobody at Estadio Luis Ángel "Pipilo" Umaña would claim to know exactly which town a Santa Cruz FC shirt represents.

What is certain is the level: Santa Cruz FC plays in Costa Rica's second tier, the Segunda División. Santa Cruz takes its turn there against Jicaral, Quepos Cambute, Deportivo Upala, Turrialba, Cofutpa, Municipal Grecia, Sarchí, Escorpiones Belén and Inter San Carlos.

The stadium carries a similar fog. Some listings put its capacity at 3,000, others at 9,000 following work done in 2020, and match sheets for Santa Cruz have also named the Estadio Luis "Chochi" Briceño in Jicaral, a 1,000-seat ground in Puntarenas, as a home venue for certain fixtures.

There is a Santa Cruz Futebol Clube in Recife, founded in 1914, but that history belongs to a different country and a different club entirely. The Costa Rican Santa Cruz FC carries no trophies s that track the Segunda División, no recorded founding date, and no official colours on file.
