AD Sarchí

The idea came from a former Costa Rica international, José Miguel Cubero, who wanted a place in the Alajuela province where local players could be developed. He put money into the project in 2021, a year after the club took shape in Sarchí, and the first return came quickly: the Alajuela zone title in the third tier, LINAFA, in the 2021/22 season.

In July 2022 Cubero bought the franchise of AD Barrio México, which had held a place in the Liga de Ascenso since 2019, and moved the club into the second division that way.

Home is the Estadio Municipal Eliécer Pérez Conejo, which holds 2,500. The shirt is yellow, the shorts and socks green, with white kept for the change strip.

Ownership changed again in July 2025, when Joseph Joseph, president of Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, acquired the franchise with the stated aim of turning Sarchí into a feeder side that would move young players into the Alajuelense system. The club was excluded from the 2025–26 Costa Rican Cup over the status of that deal and the conflict of interest it raised.

Through all of it Cubero has stayed on both sides of the line — general manager in the week, and still registered as a player. His relatives are in the technical staff, among them assistant coach David Cubero, and Yeison Cubero came through the club's own system. The head coach is the Spaniard Joel Bravo, working with a squad that draws on Cuban, Colombian and Haitian imports alongside the local intake.
