Piratas

The first competitive match played under the name Piratas Fútbol Club finished goalless.

What made it possible was a franchise transfer rather than a promotion. The rights had belonged to Celaya F.C.; the first plan to move the club outright was blocked, and a new franchise was approved instead. The distinction matters on paper: Piratas carry nothing forward from Celaya, and nothing from Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz, the club that used to play in this part of the state and no longer exists. The trophy cabinet starts empty and, in an inaugural season, stays that way.

The name is a legal document as much as a badge. "Veracruz" was unavailable, so the club registered as Piratas Fútbol Club — although everyone in Boca del Río says Piratas de Veracruz anyway, and the stadium itself is named after Luis "Pirata" Fuente. Black and gold at home, white with dark wave graphics away.

José Carlos Vives Gómez owns the club; his relative René Vives Gómez sits as chairman. The formal founding date is 22 April 2026, three months before that first kick-off.

Jaiba Brava, from the Gulf coast to the north, were the first opponents and are the obvious candidate — geography does most of the work.
