Mineros de Zacatecas

Eduardo López Muñoz bought a football club in June 2020. Grupo Pachuca had needed somewhere to put a franchise it no longer wanted in Zapopan — and Zacatecas, which had been without a second-division side since Real Sociedad de Zacatecas was sold off to Altamira in 2003, took the transfer.

The name came from the ground, in the literal sense: silver and gold have been pulled out of this part of Mexico for centuries, and the badge carries a pickaxe, a football and the outline of La Bufa, the hill that stands over the city. The first-choice shirt is the deep red the club calls the colour of Zacatecan earth. The away kit is white, the third black with gold.

It came closest in Clausura 2016, reaching the Ascenso MX final and losing to Necaxa 2–0 on aggregate.
